Tailored For You
Let Us Plan Your Ultimate Experience
Do you have a group of friends, colleagues, clients, or family members who would be interested in an adventure? We can satisfy different objectives and budgets to curate a bespoke experience for your group. Lodging choices range from country pub hotels, to private clubs in Edinburgh and London, to private castles and luxury trains. On the sport side we can source anything from walked up grouse and salmon fishing in Scotland, to live pigeon shooting at the King of Spain’s club in Spain, to driven Barbary partridge in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. We can arrange private tours of the famous gunmakers in London, or spend an afternoon learning how tweed is made in a Scottish mill. The sky is literally the limit (we can arrange helicopter tours). Just give us a call and we can start the conversation.

Inclusions
We strive to make this process as seamless as possible for you and the group.
We want you to arrive at the airport and not have to worry about the big or small details of your trip. We communicate with you from start to finish!
Airport Transfers / Ground Transport
We collect our teams at the applicable airport and transport them to home base for the week. From there, all ground transport throughout the week is provided, either by small coach or 4×4 vehicles. At the end of the week, everyone is taken back to the airport for flights home.
Accommodations
The comfort of having a home away from home after an exciting day of shooting is paramount to the Delaney & Sons experience. Being able to put your feet up by the fire and talk about the day with fellow guns is priceless. That is why, regardless of the venue, we always stay in a manor home taken on an exclusive basis. Some are in villages, some are in the country, but they are all cosy, elegant, and warm. Laundry facilities are available as are hair dryers. Outlet converters for each country should be purchased and brought with you.
Food
One of our only complaints we hear year after year is “You fed me too much!” From full English breakfasts, elevenses, supper after shooting and dinner later in the night, you will not go hungry. Each house has a personal chef who incorporates our game into many meals. Any dietary restrictions are taken into account so everyone enjoys wonderful gourmet meals.
Insurance
We partner with Countryside Alliance to provide you with the following coverage:
£10m Legal Liability Insurance
£35,000 Personal Accident Disability cover
£15,000 Accidental Death cover
£10m Legal Liability Insurance
Instructors
We have two to three instructional loaders who will float among the guns throughout the day, assisting with stuffing and giving pointers. A dedicated loader is optional but highly recommended.
Cartridges & Bags
Gun Hire / Gun Slips
Gun hire is a bit of a misnomer, as we do not charge for the use of our guns. We have a stable of about a dozen 12 bore shotguns, vintage and modern, over and under and side by side, that you are welcome to use. If you wish to bring your own guns we will provide the relevant UK Visitors Shotgun Permit for temporary importation. Take out the last two sentences and just add: We will help you with all the steps if you choose to travel with your own gun/s. It’s not as hard as you think!
If you decide you want to return and leave your guns behind for the next adventure, we have access to insured gun storage facilities at all our venues, and we can arrange for any servicing or repairs in the off season.
We also have a quiver of gun slips for single guns and doubles, so there is no need to waste valuable baggage space on chunky gun slips!
Gun Permits
Anyone shooting with us must have a valid Visitor’s Permit, and anyone who plans to bring their own guns must travel with that Permit. We help you with the process. Each serial number of the guns intended to be used must be listed on your certificate. In order for us to submit an application, we require the following information:
- Full Name
- Address
- Date of Birth
- Make, type, gauge and serial number of the guns you are bringing (up to three can be listed)
- Full copy of US/State Hunting License Permit.
We will have a series of forms for you to fill out months before the trip.
Exclusions
We will communicate with you in the planning process so there will be no surprises!
Flights
Upon receiving your invoice, you will also get your pick up and departure times for the trip. We encourage you to plan around these times as we travel as a group to and from the airport.
Personal Loader
A loader costs £140/day and this money is given to him or her after each day.
Gratuities
In the UK, the gamekeeper and shoot captain run the day of shooting for us. At the end of the day, you will give the game keeper a tip that will be distributed equally to the beaters and pickers up.
As a rule of thumb, you tip £20 for the first 50 birds and £10 for every 50 birds thereafter. Spain is a little different, in that you will tip your loader and secretario €80 each per day, that is given at the end of the last day of shooting.
At the end of the week, we suggest you tip the chef and house staff. A rule of thumb is £25/€25 per person per full day.
Overages
Overages are the birds that are shot over the anticipated bag for the day. In the UK, we have non-overage contracts with most of our estates. On the few estates where we are subject to overages, the entire team will be responsible for sharing equally on overage charges. For example, if we are shooting a 200 bird day but the group as a whole shoots 225 birds, then the cost for the extra 25 birds would be shared across the eight paying guns, and only after the group decides, as a whole, to proceed with a larger bag. This really hasn’t happened to us to date, but it could.
In Spain each gun has a minder called a secretario who keeps track of the birds shot and where they fall. And, they let you know how many birds you shot after each drive. On a 400 bird day, each gun would get 50 birds. If the overall bag exceeds four hundred, the secretario will use the number you shot in excess of fifty to assess your share of overages. If the group doesn’t exceed the bag, it doesn’t matter if you personally go over your limit, as the daily bag has been satisfied. On multiple day shoots you roll over to the next day. So, if we go over on the first day we can take it easier on day two (and we will know who really needs to take it easy). When we recently shot in Spain we were a tad bit over on the first day, but ended the second day within one bird of the total anticipated bag for both days, so all worked out. The point is that you can control any overage liability with your trigger finger. You will not pay any extra money if you personally shoot within your allotted amount of birds for the total days you are shooting.

Frequently Asked Questions
It’s important that you have all your questions answered before booking a trip. Here are some to get you started but please reach out to get the full details.
What is Included and Not Included in the Trip?
In short, we provide airport transfers to the venue, ground transfer to the shooting estates, food and accommodations, gun hire and permits, ammunition, roving instructors, and field insurance while shooting. What’s not included is airfare, gratuities, a dedicated loader. Click here for more details.
How will I get there?
Getting yourself to the airport is all you have to do. We will arrange pick up from either the airport or a nearby recommended hotel. Many shooters come a day early to beat some of the jet lag. Book your incoming and outgoing flights so that it aligns with our group pick up times. Kevin, Sean or Liz will be there to greet you! If your flight is delayed, we can arrange a taxi service to bring you to our home for the week.
May I bring Someone with Me?
Whether it’s a spouse, son/daughter, or friend, companions are welcome to attend at an additional cost. If he/she would like to share a peg and shoot, that is more than encouraged! We’ve partnered with tour companies at various locations to take guests out for a day or two of sightseeing. The other days can be filled with shopping, visiting a local nearby town, heading to the spa, relaxing at our home for the week, or joining us in the field. Liz works with you to plan an enjoyable week for everyone.
May I arrive early to do some sightseeing?
Absolutely! Many shooters do arrive early and stay in London, Edinburgh, or Madrid. Arriving early helps to beat some of the jet lag too. We can suggest things to do and places to see. We can also give you information about where to store your gun if applicable. Then on pick up day, take a taxi to our meeting point.
What clothing is required and what should I pack?
Many shooters like to wear traditional English driven shooting attire, but it is not a requirement. If you are looking for a particular bit of kit, we can offer suggestions. Staying comfortable, warm and dry is most important. No camouflage or blaze orange and wearing drab colors of greens and brown is good. Rubber boots, rain gear, warm layered clothing in case of cold weather, good shooting gloves, a tie (optional), a comfortable jacket and a friendly attitude. Eye protection and ear protection are highly recommended. Things you do not have to pack are gun slips, cartridge bags, walking sticks and hairdryers. A
How much money should I bring and will my credit/debit card work?
Past shooters suggest no less than £550. This will cover daily tips (£40 – £50 per day to game keepers), tips to our staff at the end of the week, drinks in the evening and other incidentals. Getting some pounds from your local bank before you leave is a very good idea as rates will be more at the airports.
Debit cards will not always work, but you can use your credit card to withdraw cash at an ATM, and you will get a better exchange rate than offered at an exchange service.
How can I reach you and will my cell phone work abroad?
Our phones will work abroad (+1717-919-5317 or +1717-418-8575) but first call your cell phone company to go over enabling your phone for international usage. Depending on your provider, the calling rates are not prohibitive. However, you should not use international roaming for data or internet usage, as the relevant rates can vary wildly. Your phone should be able to use the house/ hotel’s free wi-fi service, so you can check emails in the mornings and evenings and even Skype, What’s APP or Face Time.
