All the Traditions of Driven Shooting
Shropshire, located in the West Midlands region of England, is a lush countryside with a rolling landscape nestled between Birmingham and the Welsh border. We will be shooting in and around the Shropshire Hills and have been fortunate enough to be invited to some of the region’s most exclusive and private shoots. What Our Travellers Say
Thank you for another great year with Delaney and Sons! Also, thank you for our book – a reminder of a second very special trip. The book includes wonderful pictures of Kirk, for which I am very grateful. What fun it has been to get to know you and your family and all you have to offer as friends and travel/sports enthusiasts. Looking forward to seeing you in the warmer weather. Let’s hope that’s soon!

I visited Wales with my family on a driven bird hunt with the Delaneys, and it was truly an experience like no other. Every aspect of the trip was completely taken care of, from pick-up at the airport to our reluctant departure, our needs were readily accommodated by Liz and her lovely team so that our only job was to enjoy ourselves – and to shoot straight. This was my first time participating in a driven style shoot, and our wonderfully patient guide Kevin was there to help. Hunting at the different estates was a blast; lots of birds, plenty of snack breaks, and the beautiful Welsh countryside as the backdrop for this authentic British experience. I could go on about all the spectacular things about this trip, the wonderful lodging at Porthmawr House, incredible food by Adam, great company – everything was top-shelf. It was by far my favorite trip that I have ever been on, which is a testament to the people who made it happen, and I hope to be back soon!

The signature drive at Riverside has the guns at the base of a cliff with their backs to the river. Pheasants are driven over the cliff-edge where they are high and wheeling as they shoot out from the wooded cliff side and try to curl back quickly to the safety of the trees. This drive was a thrilling climax to the week and it felt like the preceding days shooting had been pointing towards this moment, which was over all-too-soon.

We went to Wales with Delaney and Sons and had an extravagant time. Vicki did not shoot but there were many things to do and she enjoyed them all. Harris shot driven birds for the first time and had a tremendous shoot. But the best part was the people. Sean, Liz, and Kevin made the trip enjoyable on every level. The lodge was great and so much better than a random hotel. The meals were a joy. We had a traditional Thanksgiving Day dinner in Wales! Highest marks.

The shoot in Wales was outstanding. Food, shooting, scenery, lodging and meeting new friends were tops. Liz took care of everything and the worries of foreign travel were eliminated due to the excellent organizational abilities of Liz. I was able to totally relax and enjoy the trip without any worries.

Every estate was so beautiful with a unique side to each of them. The shooting was excellent, and the hospitality could not have been any better. There wasn’t one place I didn’t feel welcome as a first time visiting guest.
